It started out as any engagement session would...well maybe with the exception of some car hitting a deer right near the parking lot, oh yeah, and the fender bender a short time later just a tad down the road. Okay, maybe it didn't start out like any other engagement shoot. Maybe it should have been an omen of things to come. I met Anne and Chris at the place where they had one of their first dates. Difficult Run near Great Falls park. This is one of the more beautiful areas of Northern Virginia. The falls, the woods, the rivers...a truly awesome place for a photo op.
We began our hike down the path, and stopped along the way for some shots and conversation. It was a hot day, but the shade of woods really made it bearable.
Right about the time I snapped this one off, the skies began to look a little ominous...but onward we treked. It was actually great skies to take photos in. Not too sunny and the light was almost perfect. Until it wasn't anymore. The rains started pretty fast and hard. You know those times when you suddenly realize you were going to get soaked...not my best look, and the only thing you can do is just simply embrace the wetness of it all. At least is was a warm day. It was actually kind of fun. I don't think I walked in that much rain since my college days. It was raining so hard, the rain was getting into my eyes (was I not supposed to look up into the sky?). It was maybe about 1/2 mile walk back to the parking lot (Chris if it was less than a half mile, don't tell me, it will ruin the drama;-)). The creek got higher and the paths got muddy, but we laughed and forged our way back to the car.
Needless to say, we never got to our ultimate destination in the park...thats what rehoots are for. I look forward to going back, and seeing where this trail we got rained out on leads to. In the meantime, it's not everyday you get an engagement shot like this one. If it weren't pouring torrentially on my camera, I would have loved doing more shots in the rain!
Until the reshoot....
