Last week, I got peed on at least twice and pooped on - well at least once also. . .all in all it was a great week.  I can't think of a better way to spend my day than photographing newborn babies!

As anyone who has had babies, or for those of you who are about to have a “small wonder,” you learn that these moments are fleeting, and once passed, they are gone forever.  Capturing these brief, cherished memories is priceless.  Those that miss recording these moments truly regret it later.

Newborn sessions usually go more smoothly if the baby is under 10 days old.  This is the time when they tend to sleep more and are much easier to get into those adorable poses that you love so much.  We ask if possible to bring your little one into the studio just before feeding time.  We have a quiet warm area where you can sit in a comfortable rocking chair and feed your baby into that wonderful “milk coma” that makes photographing them so much easier.  We even have a changing table and extra wipes and diapers for your convenience.  Because newborns look much better photographed without clothing, we keep our studio very warm so your newborn wlll be comfortable. You may want to dress appropriately for the warmth.  We understand that a new family may be feeling overwhelmed at this time.  We just want you to know that we take care of you and your baby.  I have an infinite amount of patience, and understand that babies, cry, pee, poop and, well do pretty much what they want to do (see first sentence).  Sessions vary in time because baby rules, and that's okay, because baby may rule, but I win.  Eventually they all fall asleep!

Baby safety is paramount.  With the whole onslaught of a "photographer on every corner" everyone is trying to get the "it" picture.  Inexperienced photographers will often and very unfortunately put babies in jeporday, but trying to get "that" position.  Uh oh, I feel a rant coming on and think I am going to save that for another post.  There are so many things I would like to share about baby safety.  Stay tuned.  But for now I am going to tempt all you expecting and brand new moms out there with some amazingly cute wee ones, and hopefully an incentive and call to action!  Enjoy and until next time . . .
